Xiaomi Mi Mix 3
Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is the last participant in the Xiaomi Mi Mix series that was launched in October of this year. Its predecessor includes Mi Mix, Mix Mix 2 and Mi Mix 2S. The highlight of the smartphone is its slide-camera configuration like that of the Oppo Find X.
• 6.39-inch AMOLED display
• 6GB/8GB/10GB RAM coupled with 128GB and 256GB storage
• 12MP + 12MP dual rear camera I 24MP + 2MP dual selfie camera at the front
• Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor
• Android v8.1 (Oreo) OS
Announced in Beijing on Thursday in the Forbidden City, the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is the latest addition to the flagship line of all Xiaomi displays. Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, it has a 6.39-inch screen like the Mi Mix with a resolution of 2,340×1,080 pixels, which means that 93.4 percent of your body is the screen. (By comparison, the Mi Mix 2 is only 5.99 inches.) If you’ve been up to date with all the 5G things, you may have heard that Xiaomi was working on one of the first 5G-enabled phones you can buy. This seems to be, but will have to wait until next year for it.
It has four cameras, two in the front and back, as well as a huge variant of 10 GB RAM. The capacity of the battery is less impressive than 3,200 mAh (we have seen larger in other Xiaomi phones like the Mi Max 3), although the phone supports wireless charging. The fingerprint sensor remains on the back of the phone.
Mi Mix 3 also comes in a 5G version promoted by Xiaomi as the first commercially available phone in the world, although it is not expected to launch until the first quarter of next year. This could disappoint fans who were excited about a leak showing 5G support on the phone last month, but the delay will not matter too much, even if the 5G capabilities were available now, you will not be able to use it until the buildouts are completed of network. This is true even in the country of origin of Xiaomi, even though China is at the forefront of 5G development.
In terms of design, the Mi Mix 3 takes one step closer to losing your characteristic chin. Mi Mix phones used to have a lower bezel, now reduced to 4.46 mm, which housed the selfie camera. But cameras have now moved to a magnetic slider on the phone. You can slide the full screen down to answer calls or customize it to start different functions. The feature is similar to those seen in the recent Oppo Find X and Huawei’s Honor Magic 2, which will launch on October 31.
